The funny thing about history is that … it's funny.

The scent of sex, scandals and secrets wafts about the streets of this city like the whiffy sewers our ancestors never had. One thing about walking about in the past, you had to look where you stepped. If the Nooks and crannies of Edinburgh’s streets could talk they’d tell tales of bonking bankers, mad aristocrats and people who collected shit for a living*.

Susan Morrison is neck deep in dirty history. Well, she is pretty short, and the river of scandalous shenanigans she wades through is impressively deep.

She’s not a historian. They are fabulous people who dedicate themselves to their craft. Susan’s a stand-up comedian who likes to say she works in comedy, but she lives in history, and she loves the weird, off-beat and downright mad stories this wonderful city can offer.

Come and join her on her No-Walking Historically Funny show at the Stand, or catch her tours of The Shore down in Leith. She’ll be doing her own walking tours in the Fringe this year. You could book her for your very own tour, or after-dinner entertainment with a difference.

If you think history is about people with crowns, thrones and posh accents who never go to the toilet/swear/shag, this isn’t the history for you.

This is a punks-eye view of history.

* they really did. Shit shovellers then spread it over the crops they were growing to sell to the city folks. Organic, innit?
